George was/is a wonderful man, and I'm not just saying that because he was my dad...! He was well thought of and considerate with a wicked and mischevious sense of humour. We summed it up well, when at his funeral we had 'always look on the bright side of life' played - that was dad's philosophy on life. He had four children, Karen, Gary, Shaun and Lisa (me). and was always a fair man, would look at both sides before making a judgement.
George enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, loved watching films, especially 'the duke' John Wayne and James Bond. And he also liked to supervise barbara, my mum, in the garden giving orders and shouting 'you missed a bit'!
He suffered ill health for many years, mainly angina, but it came as a huge shock when it was cancer that finally took my lovely dad from us.
He also a few years ago loved making home brew and tried his hand at wine, lager and bitter, but knocked it on the head when it got too much for him. I don't know anyone who made homebrew like my dad - he always said it would put hairs on your chest!! it was demon. My friends still talk about it even now!
We still miss him and think about him a lot, we still laugh at his jokes and talk to both him and mum as if they were both still here, at least he is reunited with Barbara, who sadly passed away this year. Hope she's not bending your ear too much dad.
Mornin' pops! how's the home brew coming? I know you've been around cos stuff keeps getting moved!! Behave yourself, but then thats you all over, mischievious! I miss your sense of humour and that dirty infectious laugh like Sid James (carry on). Bet Mum's keeping you on your toes like before, you'll be busy tormenting both her and pauline I bet. Love and miss you very much.. see you and ma in my dreams xxxxxx
What a man
well what can i say, from the moment i met you, you made an impression on me, i always remember how quick you spoke and i remember sat on the sofa, and listening to you, and i sat there saying yes and no and hoping i was answering with the right answers at the right time as i struggled to understand you, i always found you to be a warm and gentle man and very humourous the times you made us laugh, me and our lisa when we called you pepe le pew....what a laugh, well dad you carry on laughing and drinking and watching your favourite tv programmes, and dont give me mam too much trouble, just tell her to watch that bloody fennell as it seemed to go in everything love you miss you bye for now love bev and family xxxxx
hiya pops
I still miss you so much, thought about you this morning and mum as well. Wish you were here still, mind you, you wouldn't be too keen on the weather cos' its bloody cold at the minute!! I'll put some photos of you on the site just as soon as I get a scanner sorted out so everybody can see what a good looker you were (or still are!!) Hope you like the music I've put on here for you - singing along are you?
